So you’ve found the perfect new home - congratulations! Unfortunately, this time which should be about exciting plans for the future often gets overshadowed by the stresses of the move itself. From address changes and organising utilities to packing up all of your earthly possessions, moving house is a lot of work. Luckily, we’ve got some handy tips on how you can make moving day less hectic.
The night before, you should pack an essentials bag so you won’t have to rummage around three different boxes to find a clean t-shirt to wear to bed on your first night in your new pad or a plaster if you get a little accident with a box cutter.
It’s also a good idea to pack some entertaining things for the little ones so you don’t have to deal with a temper tantrum on top of everything else. A colouring book or a handheld game will keep kids happy while you pack and unpack boxes.
When you arrive at your new home, it’s a good idea to clean a bit before you start moving things in, as it’ll be tougher to do this with boxes everywhere. The first things you should set up are the beds so you have something to crash into at the end of the day.
