Everybody has a personal development plan which they meet on a 1-2-1 basis with a Director and or the Training Manager once a month.

Goals are set both from a career, results and a personal achievement basis and everyone is encouraged to pursue out of work goals especially family & charity/fund raising.

Apprenticeships

At Intercounty we have a number of Apprentices across the business who are getting invaluable training in a role as well as working towards formal accreditation. 

We support Apprenticeships across the business, and have apprentices which are just starting out from school right through to established members of staff who are taking the training to further their knowledge and support career development. 

Graduates

We welcome graduates to Intercounty and have a range of roles that would suitable a wide variety of disciplines from business management through to accounts. We provide a forward thinking environment where ambition is recognised and rewarded through structured career plans.

Employee benefits

Working Hours & Holiday

Office hours are 8.30am–6.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am–6.00pm on Saturdays. Holiday entitlement starts at 20 days per year, rising by one day for each full year of service up to 25 days. Branch managers and above receive 25 days. Additional anniversary days are available in the 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th years. Bank holidays and Christmas closure days are separate.

Additional Leave Benefits

Summer Fridays run from 1 July to 31 August with a 6pm Friday finish. Employees usually work one reduced-hours day between Christmas and New Year, with Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve given as additional holiday. Staff may also receive extra leave for moving house, weddings and a birthday lie-in.

Rewards & Discounts

Employees can take quarterly Innovation & Improvement Days to work on business improvements. One charitable working day is available each year. Staff can receive a £1,000 introduction bonus for successful permanent referrals, subject to conditions. Discounts are available through Lifetime Legal, discounted estate agency selling fees and discounted conveyancing fees for staff and immediate family.

Health & Wellbeing

Employees have access to MetLife’s Group Life EAP, including 24/7 confidential helpline support, counselling, legal and financial information, manager support, an online portal and the My Healthy Advantage app. GP24 also provides unlimited telephone and video access to practising GPs, including prescriptions, fit notes, referrals and second medical opinions.

Pension & Life Assurance

Permanent staff may join the Group Personal Pension after probation. Employees contribute a minimum of 4%, with AIG group contributing an additional 3%. AIG (Halo) Ltd also provides Group Life Assurance for eligible employees aged 16 to 74, with benefits managed under a Trust arrangement.

Financial, Mental & Physical Wellbeing

Support is available for financial concerns such as debt, pensions, reduced income and money management. Qualified counsellors can help with issues including bereavement, anxiety, stress and relationships. Registered nurses can advise on physical wellbeing topics such as aches and pains, heart health, stopping smoking, exercise, nutrition and travel health.

Everest Funeral Concierge Service provides 24/7 support for insured employees and dependants, helping families make informed funeral decisions. Services include a digital vault, simple will preparation, online funeral planning tools and local funeral price information
