Cooking the perfect rice can be a bit tricky, there are all sorts of methods, and recipes, but if you follow this recipe you will have perfect rice every time:
Place your rice in a pan, the larger the better. Place boiling water over the top, ensuring that there is a layer of about 10cm of water covering the rice, then add a dessert spoon of oil, stir, put your pan on a high heat and leave to boil frantically, for around 10 minutes, or until the water has dispersed.
Then take your pan off the heat, and cover the lid completely with a tea towel and place the lid of your pan over the top, leave for around 10-15 minutes until the rice is light and fluffy.
The larger the pan, and the smaller amount of rice you want to cook the better the result.
For the best results if using Jasmine or Basmati rice is to soak it first in a pan and drain before cooking, you can repeat this process three times for the best result.
If you are planning to use your rice in a stir-fry then it’s always best to use cold rice, as it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan and go mushy.
If you are re-using rice, make sure you refrigerate it, and reheat it properly.
