It’s a this time of year when the days are lighter, the air is warmer, and we tend to turn our attention to cleaning our homes, so why not spring into spring cleaning with our top 6 tips…

1. Cleaning your windows with white vinegar – mix 1/5 parts of water to white vinegar or see check out our other marvelous vinegar cleaning tips.

2. Stainless steel – if you would like to keep your stainless steel looking at its best then use a waxed based aerosol spray on it a couple of times a week, this will help it to look shiny and will protect it. Never use any type of abrasive substance on your steel, as this will scratch it.

3. Remove stains and odors – the best way to do this is to soak up any extra residue from your stain, by blotting it with kitchen paper, then use cold water (hot water can fix stains) to dilute it, blotting it again, do this several times. If it’s still stained after this process then call in the professionals.

If you have rugs that are difficult to clean then sprinkle a thick layer of bicarbonate of soda onto them and leave for 15 minutes, vacuum up the powder that has absorbed the odors. This is also really good for soft furnishing that have been stored in a damp environment.

4. Clean your painted walls – with a sponge and water clean your paintwork, for stains that are hard to move use washing up liquid with water or sugar soap.

5. Carpet cleaning – if you have fitted carpets in your home, then now is the time to get professional carpet cleaners in to clean your carpets, as they will dry much faster than in winter.

6. Silver cleaning – the best way to clean your silver, is to line a bowl with foil, add some salt and place the item into the bowl, leave for a few minutes and then wipe with a dry clean cloth.
