If it’s a real chocolate egg you are after this interesting looking, if a bit different egg has been named the Independent’s choice of Children’s Easter egg for 2014! This one is called the Lick the Spoon’s Chocolate Pixel egg – it does have a fun design even if the hundreds and thousand sprinkles  are a bit old school but apparently the Independent judges reckon there is so much to it won’t all be eaten in one sitting. Its a milk chocolate ( 40% cocoa milk chocolate)egg covered in sprinkles with a milk chocolate plinth and colourful new packaging (also made in England) and is approximately 14cm high. 220g

The Co-op have interestingly come up with a popcorn and chocolate egg, they have combined the two ingredients to create they say a “delicious milk chocolate egg littered with sweet chewy popcorn. “  Like popcorn, like chocolate but not sure what they will be like together in an egg?

If you want an egg with more substance you might want to consider The Real Easter Egg. Of the 80 million chocolate Easter eggs sold each year in the UK, The Real Easter Egg is the first and only Fairtrade chocolate Easter egg to explain the Christian understanding of Easter.

The Belgian milk chocolate egg comes with a pack of Swiss Chocolate organic Chunky Buttons and a 24 page Easter story book. A charity donation is made from the sale of each egg and those who make it also give a sizeable donation from profits and Fairtrade Premium fees, to the chocolate producing farmers allowing them to invest in their community buying everything from school books and solar panels to providing fresh water.
