Here are some hand tips on how to get the most of your freezer:

• Left over wine – if you are not sure what to do with left over wine, then put it into ice-cube containers, and add to sauces and casseroles, when you need them.

• Freeze food into individual portions – if you buy a multi-pack of meat, by separating them into individual portions, you could save on waste.

• Left over meats, such as slices of bacon - don’t let them go off in your fridge, pop them into a bag and put them in the freezer.

• Save any left over meals by putting them in the freezer for next time.

• Make double the quantity of food for a meal and then put it in the freezer for next week.

• Left over citrus fruits, just cut these up into portions, and put them into a freezer bag for when you next need one, if you need them for a recipe, just warm them in the microwave or pop them in a cold drink and they will also act as an ice-cube.

• Make sure your freezer is not left empty as it will use more energy.
