Monopoly Still Has The Monopoly…

The game Monopoly has been around since the 1930’s and introduced all those who played it with the chance to have their first taste at getting on the London property market and trading in Monopoly money.

However this year the game’s makers Hasbro have introduced a twist-  80 games into the market with real money. The player will win the jackpot and will receive £15,532, €20,580 in real money. There will also be 10 sets released which will contain five €20 notes, two €50 notes and one €100 note. Then a further 69 sets will have five €10 notes and five €20 notes.

Hasbro France asked their clientele how they wanted to see the game develop and they responded that they wanted to have real cash inside the games. The special games were constructed in secret before being distributed around France.

Monopoly still seems to have the monopoly when it comes to board games, having sold 300 million, in 111 countries and translated into 43 languages. There are 500,000 sets sold in France each year.

The 80 lucky boxes will be among 30,000 and each special box will have no noticeable difference, apart from the weight of the product which is expected to weigh more than the normal game, so make sure if you’re in France, and would like one, that you take some kitchen weighing scales to the toy shops.
