Essex has been named one of the ten most sunniest places in the UK by the Daily Telegraph.
According to the Met office statistics Thurrock, on Southend-on-Sea receives 1,559 total sunshine hours per year, compared to Fort William in the Highlands which only receives 1,050 hours of sunshine per year. The driest place in the UK is East Anglia, with Essex receiving 507mm of rain fall per annum, with wettest place in the UK being Merionethshire, Carnarvonshire, which receives 1,838 mm of rain fall each year.
