In the UK we are somewhat infatuated with all things property - whether it’s finding out how much our current property is worth, browsing properties for sale on the web, calculating potential equity value, dreaming of being a property owner, considering buying into a fantastic location for schools and work or just because it will offer us more space and more options further along the line. But when it comes down to it living and enjoying being in a property it’s more about how much we love our home and perhaps what that location can offer us in terms of commuting, entertainment and the local community. Yes, it’s nice to know we have made some money on a property but it isn’t the be all and end all, once the initial euphoria has worn off, that extra bit of profit or equity won’t make you happy. If you choose a property for that alone, you could be making a mistake.
That’s why it’s important to make sure that you fall in love with a property and the area before you buy. The French call it a “coup de Coeur” - love at first sight, as that’s the thing that will make you the happiest in the long run, and when you are asked you will answer:
“How long have you lived here?”
“Why so long?”
“Because we are happy here.”
Greg McKinnel is a prime example of someone who loves his home. He recently bought a family home in Troy Homes’ exclusive Harvester Close, in Royston, Hertfordshire, he explains how he and his family got all the help they needed to buy their new family home: “The moment we saw the house in Harvester Close, we knew it was right for us. We had looked at several other developments and properties, but none came close to this one. It is perfect, but we were worried that we might lose it if the sale of our current house took too long. When we explained this to Troy Homes, they immediately reserved the home we wanted and introduced us to Assisted Move. Troy Homes have been true to their word and helped us every step of the way, which has made all the difference. We now have our dream family home and can’t wait to move in next week. It’s the perfect start to the new year.”
