According to a new survey, East Hertfordshire has been named the best place to live in the UK.
The survey carried out by Halifax quality of life survey in 2020 took into account several factors including high life expectancy, excellent health and happiness scores and high average earnings - all of these aspects make East Hertfordshire and East England they say to the top spot for property buyers.
Out of the 50 top places from their report, 18 of those local authorities were in the South East of England. The survey took into account 26 elements that home buyers look for when purchasing a property. It even took into account those property hunters looking to buy the perfect home. They stated that affordable properties, safety and the number of green spaces were vital to home buyers. Schools in the area also achieved excellent exam results with 73.3% achieving a grade of 9-4 in both English and Maths.
Russel Galley, Managing Director at Halifax commented; ’With bustling market towns and picturesque countryside, East Hertfordshire has topped the table thanks to high life expectancy, good schools and health and happiness scores, with high average earnings.’
'Everyone has different priorities when it comes to choosing a place to live, depending on the time of life, and personal circumstances. Affordability will always be one of the most important factors, with getting a foot on the property ladder still difficult for some people.’
