There are so many reasons why people choose to downsize and why moving into a smaller home can make sense. Perhaps you are moving to save on annual bills or to pay off debts. You may have too much space since your children have flown the nest, you would like to free up some finances to use in other ways or would just like to do less cleaning. Whatever the reason, many property owners are viewing down-sizing as a viable option. Take time to consider the reasons.

Arrange your personal valuation and discuss your plans with a professional
When considering whether to move into a smaller home you will need to think about certain factors such as:
Will there be enough space for the family to come and stay from time to time?
Will the property be large enough for my everyday needs?
Will I have to move away from friends?
These are all really important factors to think about to ensure you make the right decision for your personal needs.
Does it make financial sense to move?
Before making the move make sure that it’s financially viable – to do this you will need to calculate the cost of the property transaction; legal fees, tax and removal costs, the cost of moving can mount up. If you are unsure about any of these costs you can ask a member of our property team at any time from 8am-9pm every weekday, 9am-5pm Saturdays and 10am-4pm Sundays.
