Jon Cooke, director at Intercounty has been cycling around the UK to help raise money for the estate agency foundation. Here is his lastest blog about his journey.
Firstly thanks to Ravensworth for sponsoring this stage. The team was a little fresher after a rest day in Whitby, however the torrential overnight rain took its toll on the day. An 8am start outside of Astins estate agents, for a photo shoot and 3 of their staff joined us for the first part of our trip to Hull, including the owner Ed who at 58 is as fit as a fiddle and joined us for the first 40 miles of the journey.
We are also joined by Ross from Linley and Simpson in Leeds, the day started with a cycle along a disused railway line towards Scarborough, however overnight torrential rain had turned the sooty and gravelly surface into a bit of nightmare causing the road bikes to get clogged up, hence Sam, Ross and myself decided at one point to take a turn off the track and take the road instead, after our first bend we saw the sign in the picture and from then we wished we had stayed on the track! We all met up again just before Scarborough and carried on to Bridlington where the Astins crew left us and we were joined by Farah from Harris Bell for a part of our remaining journey to Hull. Luckily this part was very flat, however Ross realised he had left his mobile phone in Farah’s office, so the day finished short of the total mileage at 70 miles, leaving us the extra mileage to do tomorrow.
Thanks again for many of the messages of support; we still could really do with your sponsorship as we are currently running short on our target, as much as we are running short of energy! Please help us by texting - ‘Bike32 £5’ (or any other amount) to 70070
