Jon Cooke, director at Intercounty has been cycling around the UK to help raise money for the estate agency foundation. Here is his lastest blog about his journey.
Very early start, leaving the camp site at 6am, a quick stop off at McDonalds, not to eat the rubbish food, but to use the WiFi. It is amazing the lack of WiFi and 3G over the last few days, surely this must be a priority for us as a country to get ourselves connected.
Whilst sitting in McDonalds, quite literally, the heavens opened, I don’t like McDonalds but the team certainly didn’t want to leave in that one!! Again, no other agents joined us today (they must have seen the weather forecast). Torrential rain for virtually the whole route, I have honestly never cycled in anything quite like it, the roads were like river beds and we had to revise the route due to flooding.
The highlight of the day was standing under the blow heater above the entrance door in a Morrisons supermarket in a vain effort to warm 3 soaked through cyclists. My other memory of the day is us sitting in Morrisons café literally stuffing our faces whilst a huge puddle formed under the table. Then it was back on the bikes for our coastal trip to Cardigan.
Again some fantastic scenery and if it wasn’t for the rain, this would have been a superb stage. We completed our 73 miles and thank you to our sponsors, Frost Estate Agents. Thankfully a rest day beckons tomorrow, and the weather forecast is showing less rain.
