Working from home has become more viable since advances in technology; such as high-speed internet and employers realising that they need to offer flexible working hours to employees, as well as the recession when more people than ever took the decision to set up a businesses from home. According to the ONS, Office for National Statistics, in 2014 over 4.2 million people were working from home, and when new figures are released we would expect to see a further rise - partly due to a change in tenant laws, which has meant that tenants can work from a rental property more easily, please check out this link

If you work from home then you might also be able to claim a proportion of your costs for items such as; heating, electricity, council tax, mortgage interest or rent, internet and telephone use. For more information please visit the Government’s website.
