Mark Bygott Intercounty, as part of their on going support for community based activities are sponsoring Belvoir Cricket Club in the annual tussle with a roving MCC cricket team. The match to take place on Tuesday afternoon (9th July) is to be played in the picturesque Knipton ground with wonderful views across to Belvoir Castle half a mile away. Mark Bygott has a family connection with the club where his wife is secretary and his youngest son is a playing member.
The club plays host to several cricket teams and also the Belvoir Cricket Trust which runs junior cricket which frequently has 70 youngsters turning out on a Friday night.
'The Trust aims to offer “Belvoir Bees” sessions at a number of rural sports/cricket venues. The Bees provide a taster not only for children to participate in sport and learn skills - but also provides a focussed way for local families to meet and generally develop their community.'
The match will be a sociable affair with a competitive edge and no doubt the odd glass of cold beer will help to cool off the thirsty player!
