Spotlight: Living in Harlow

Harlow has grown in popularity over the past few years as house buyers and commuters are attracted to the close proximity to the M11 and M25, the rolling countryside, the vast amount of green spaces, with just over one-third of the town being parkland, fields or public footpaths. Surrounded by Green Belt land it has one of the largest urban parks in the country.

Harlow also attracts families as it offers a great range of Primary and Secondary schooling. There are many clubs and activities to do in Harlow, including two cricket clubs, a football club, Harlow Rugby Football Club, a sports centre and a skate park. Harlow also has a collection of public sculptures over 100 in total by artists such as Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and Ralph Brown.

Harlow has is a diverse range of shopping, the Harvey Centre has high street brands as well independent shops, the Water Gardens offers shops, restaurants set in landscaped gardens and in Old Harlow there are a variety of small independent shops, restaurants and a small supermarket.

There is also a wide variety of housing, ranging from modern and newly built homes, ideal for first-time buyers and families within commutable distance into London. Old Harlow and surrounding villages offering a variety of Grade II Listed and character properties.

We asked Matthew our Branch Manager at Intercounty Harlow what are the best things to do in Harlow, he commented "It has a great variety of locations for a good "date night" or a family adventure for all ages.

There is a great selection of places to eat at Harlow Water Gardens from Italian cuisine at Pizza Express or Portuguese food at Nandos, and now with the extra addition of a new Cineworld in the Harvey Centre dinner can be follow by a good film.

If your looking for something to keep the kids busy then I would suggest a trip to Harlow Town Park. There you have free entry to Pets Corner where the kids can be kept amused by an array of animals from Pigs to exotic fish. I would then suggest a nice picnic down by the river where the children can run riot!"
