Intercounty raise money for Children in Need

The Intercounty team raised £518.60 for the charity BBC Children in Need by hosting various events including a sponsored planking challenge, a Pudsey Cake stall and a raffle where a number of Intercounty’s contractors donated prizes*.

This year the annual BBC Children in Need has raised nearly £47million, with tributes to the late Terry Wogan, who usually hosts the event but unfortunately passed away earlier this year.

Each year money raised from this event goes towards helping children based in the UK, the charities vision is to make sure that every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy and secure with the chance to reach their potential. They are currently supporting 2,400 projects in the UK to help children facing disadvantages, including poverty and deprivation.

Children in Need’s chief executive, Simon Antrobus, said: “Everyone should feel really proud. The remarkable generosity shown, and the amazing total raised, will go on to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people all across the UK.”

Pudsey bear is the mascot of BBC children in Need and if you have ever wondered where the name comes from it came from Joanna Ball who designed Pudsey, her home town was based in West Yorkshire in the village of Pudsey. Terry Wogan first introduced Pudsey bear back in 1985 and this cute bear has been synonyms with BBC Children in Need ever since. Since the appeal was launched the charity has managed to raise over £800 million for disadvantaged children.
