The summer holidays can be a really expensive time of year, so we’ve checked out a few places you can take the kids for free this summer in Essex:
Wat Tyler Park; there is free parking and a great adventure playground with zip lines for the children to enjoy. They also have an exhibition centre with large selection Second World War paraphernalia, such as explosives and bombs. Check out their website for more information.
Great Notley Country Park – has over 100 acres of parkland to explore and enjoy, as well as the longest play trail in Essex, it’s a great place to have a picnic or fly a kite. Although entry is free, parking cost £3 for the day. For more information please visit their website.
Grays Beach – this is located on the riverfront on Thames Road, in Thurrock. It’s a great place if your kids love sand, as it offers a huge sandpit/play area. According to some on-line reviews it’s not a place where you could go for the whole day, but it’s a good way to spend a few hours, for more info please follow this link.
Bishop’s Stortford paddling pool – this has now re-opened after a few teething problems just after the major construction work. It’s a great place for the children to play safely with water whilst you can watch from the grassy edge. Take a picnic and visit the play equipment and you can make a day out of it.
Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club - are hosting a cricket week of events to mark their 50th anniversary from the 24-28th August for more information please visit their website.
