February 2nd 2016

If you are looking to escape this half term with your children then you will need to book your winter holiday as soon as possible, as nearer the time places are limited and you will probably end up paying more.

Although the Mediterranean can be a bit cold in February, you can still get some warm winter days if you head South, especially to the South of Spain. One of the best way to ensure a good winter break is to make sure that the accommodation you book has plenty of activities for kids inside, just incase the weather doesn’t hold out.

The weather is usually good in the Canaries, check out the facilities for children if you are booking a hotel, things to consider are kids clubs and the age range of the clubs. Heated pools, indoor pools, evening entertainment are always a good hit - check out reviews from other family holiday makers before you book to get a better idea of how family friendly they really are. Apart-hotels are a really good option for families as you will have an apartment with all the excellent facilities of a good hotel.

You could also consider a villa in Mallorca, Corfu or Catalunya or hiring a large chateau in the South of France.

Boost your winter sun by going on a skiing holiday – this is a great time of year to explore the European slopes with your family. Look out for packages that included superb childcare and family-friendly chalet hotels. Iceland has increased in popularity over the past few years, and it’s easy to see why as it’s only a three hours flight from the UK and you will have a chance of seeing the Northern lights, bubbling mud pools and exploding geysers.
