This week is child safety week, and this year’s theme is Safe Children: Sharing and Caring.
This year the CAPT, Child Accident Prevention Trust are actively encouraging friends, family, communities and professionals to come together to share their knowledge and experience to keep children safe. They say it’s not just about sharing horror stories but giving practical advice on how to prevent children from harm in and outside the home.
If you would like to get involved their website is packed full of preventative ideas and top tips for engaging with families, including a free downloadable Child Safety Week Action pack and poster.
Individual sections of the pack include how to prevent accidents such as burns and scalds, choking, poisoning, falls, road safety, drowning and fire safety.
If you are a parent and would like to get involved here is some of the CAPT advice:
• If you are a parent you can take action to save your children from suffering from terrible preventable accidents, download their safety pack to find out more
• Share your experiences with others – if you have any tips or if your child has ever had an accident or a near miss they would like to hear from you.
• Find out more about serious accidents and most common causes.
