Intercounty Saffron Walden had a busy weekend taking part in two charity events, the Debden Cycle to raise money for The Carver Barracks Injured Soldiers Fund and Colour Dash to raise money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. They managed to raise £128 per event.
The team started off their mammoth fundraising weekend by taking part in the 50 miles Debden Cycle ride, which kicked off at Carver Barracks, taking them through the beautiful Essex countryside, including the villages of Debden, Rickling, Berden, Brent Pelham to Woodman at Nuthampstead.
The following day they took part in the Colour Dash, where they could either walk, jog or run whilst they had to dash out of the way of pirates throwing paint at them. It was a spectacular fundraiser, like a festival of colours, not so different from those seen at the yearly Holi colour festival in India.
Before the Colour Dash:
Intercounty Saffron Walden has received some great feedback from Brian Lindsell, one of the Debden Cycle organisers “I feel like I'm getting to know you lot well now, we seem to have been doing this for years! Well that was another fab event thanks to Intercounty.
Just in case you missed it on Facebook, the total raised was £2,250.00. That's £16.30 per rider, not bad considering that pre paid riders made up 75% of the total and they paid £15 each.”
