This beautiful, small and quiet community village, not only has some of the most beautiful architecture around but also benefits from having a thriving vibrant community, comprising of a busy high street with a fabulous variety of small boutique shops as well as a bi-monthly farmers market and a supermarket.

Much of the town centre is a conservation area and many of the buildings date from the Tudor Stuart and Georgian periods. At its heart, Bell Street and Knight Street have numerous timber framed buildings.

Sawbridgeworth has a diverse range of places to eat and drink, from quiet bistros and restaurants to bustling pubs in the town centre. In The Maltings offers a range of cafes and takeaways, and the Antique Centres also have their own cafes and tea rooms.

The River Stort, meanders through its two locks and the railway lies to the East, with a nature reserve and historic Great Hyde Hall beyond. At the other end of the town Pishiobury Manor and Park, and the Rivers nursery lead towards the village of High Wych.

There are plenty of great fun events held in the town throughout the year, to which both the casual visitor and the community alike are all welcome.

The May Fayre is held every year on the Sunday of the first May Bank Holiday weekend. This local event brings together both organisations and people, for an afternoon of traditional entertainments. Another event which is held in October each year, is Apple Day, which celebrates the variety of fruits from Rivers Orchard.

The Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club is one of the leading cricket clubs in the south of England, fielding five senior sides on a Saturday.

Lying on the A1184, Sawbridgeworth is just four miles south of Bishop's Stortford, twelve miles east of Hertford and nine miles north of Epping.

With handy rail links into London Liverpool Street and Cambridge, Sawbridgeworth is on the Hertfordshire and Essex borders, with an M11 junction just a few miles in either direction giving easy access to the motorway.
