Haxby

The lovely village of Haxby on the River Foss, lies just five miles north of York and south of Strensall, in North Yorkshire.

To the north is a small tributary of the River Foss called Golland Dike, and to the east is the River Foss which flows southward .

Haxby, and the nearby Wigginton, Strensall and Huntington are all popular sought after locations situated three to six miles north of York.

Between them they offer a wide range of local amenities including shops, doctors, dentists, butchers, post offices and libraries.

There are regular bus services into York and also to the nearby Monks Cross and Clifton Moor shopping centres.

York itself is a thriving modern university city boasting a large variety of shops, bars and restaurants. It's three miles of city walls connect the four original gateways to the city, within which there is evidence in abundance of it's Viking, Roman and medieval history mixed with the architecture dating many century's. Towering above the city is York Minster with its superb stained glass windows.

The famous Shambles is a narrow cobbled street with quaint shops and restaurants, a short distance from the modern shopping area. By night it becomes part of the Ghost Walk and along with The York Dungeon shows the darker side of the City.

The railway station is situated approximately halfway between the London to Edinburgh route and both the A19 and A64 provide good access to the motorways.
