Bolton
According to a survey of the British Association for the Advancement of Science Boltonians are the friendliest people in Britain.
Set on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, with over 200 miles of public footpaths and cycle ways. Bolton is one of the largest towns in England and is an integral part of the Manchester City region, easily accessible due to its motorway links (M6/60/61/62) and extensive railway network.
Bolton has a rich heritage which is reflected in its attractions and architecture with 600 individual buildings listed as being of special architectural or historical interest.
For the lover of drama Bolton offers several theatres including the Octagon and independent groups such as Bolton Little Theatre and the Phoenix Theatre Company, Whilst, inside the Town Hall there is the fabulous theatre and conference complex.
For the lovers of Art there is The library and Bolton Museum and Art Gallery which has a fine collection of both local and international art.
The Bolton Central Library was one of the earliest public libraries established after the Public Libraries Act 1850, opening in October 1853 in the Exchange Building on the old market square (Victoria Square) before moving to Le Mans Crescent in July 1938.
To the west of Bolton is the Middlebrook development boasting the Reebok stadium and Bolton Arena which is a nationally significant sports and conference facility.
The town centre offers a wonderfully diverse shopping experience with it’s many markets, shopping centres and retail parks which play home to big name brands.
Bolton continues to be regarded as one of the most popular places to live and visit in the North West.
