Great Dunmow was originally a small Roman town built on the the junction of roman roads leading from London to Sudbury and Chelmsford to Cambridge. It grew to become a thriving commercial area and remained a key location throughtout English history.
The historical market of Great Dunmow is situated within the district of Uttlesford between Braintree and Bishops Stortford. The town borders the former estate of Easton Lodge, which provides a wealth of history.
The town provides a wealth of amenities such as, restaurants, pubs and bars. As well as ‘1life’ leisure centre, which offers a membership gym, swimming pool, football and cricket pitches as well as a tennis court. Further to this the town is surrounded by several well regarded Primary and Secondary schools
The nearest train station is Stansted Airport, which provides a direct and frequent train service to London Liverpool Street. Further to this there are several bus services running from the town centre to local amenities, schools and the University of Essex. Great Dunmow is situated north of the A120, which provides a quick and easy route to the M11.
