The day before the first Ashes Test match to be played at Trent Bridge, the Duchess's XI cricket team were narrowly defeated by the touring MCC team in a closely contested fixture. The match was played at Belvoir CC at their beautiful Knipton ground in the shadow of Belvoir Castle. The fixture was organised to raise funds for the Belvoir Cricket Trust and Mark Bygott Intercounty were match ball sponsors.
Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust is a registered charity focussed on getting young people active and engaged in the countryside. In the four years since the Trust was formed we have involved over 6,000 youngsters and delivered over 34,000 hours of active sport and outdoor countryside education.
In 2012 the Trust reached over 2,500 children from rural, town and inner city primary schools and youngsters from special needs schools – some getting their first taste of the countryside and others being introduced to sport for the first time - and encouraged more than 100 volunteers to help deliver these activities.
Mark Bygott and his team are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.
