Property Buyers – What Do They Look For When Buying A Property?

The top priority for many house buyers is finding a home within a catchment area of a good school. Saffron Walden and Bishop’s Stortford have some of the best primary and secondary schools in the UK, which acts as a driving force for families wanting to move within the catchment area.

Currently people living outside the catchment areas in Essex can still secure a place within these top schools, however Essex County Council is currently reviewing its admission policy and it seems as though this might change, as they want to give places to everyone living in that particular town before considering children living outside the town.

At the moment there are children living in Ickleton, Chrishall and Wimbish who can still attend Saffron Walden County High School, but this looks to change within the next few years, which will put more pressure on the Saffron Walden’s over stretched property market.

An ECC spokesperson stated: “ECC has commenced discussions with primary and secondary schools in the locality to formulate a strategic plan to increase primary and secondary school provision.

“This will be finalised when the new housing developments for the district are confirmed.”

There is also some concern about the lack of primary school places currently available in Saffron Walden, so that ECC and Uttlesford District Council are looking into creating a new primary school on the Eastern side of Saffron Walden.

Following on from this home buyers also consider transport links as being high up on the list, as well as being close to a doctors surgery and good local shops, surprisingly fast internet and good mobile signal remains quite low on the list for many buyers.
