Situated on the picturesque West Pennine Moors, Horwich enjoys many nature walks, reserves and conservation areas, offering owners of properties there spectacular views over the moors and across to Rivington Pike.

Horwich has many older cottage-style houses to be found in the centre the town and in the Church Street conservation area. Others are situated further out of town at Wallsuches, Wilderswood and Bottom o'th Moor. Many of these cottages are of historical interest because of their links with hand-loom weaving or agriculture.
