About the Town

Old Harlow offers a wealth of local facilities which include infant, junior and senior schools; comprehensive travel connections, being on the main line railway connection to London Liverpool Street, major bus routes and is close to Junction 7 of the M11.

The high street in Old Harlow is about to undertake a major revamp. Parking facilities have been much improved by the local authority and the Primary Care Trust is planning to upgrade the local doctors surgery to provide enhanced health care for all local residents. In addition to this , the local authority have allocated funding for the shopkeepers within the pedestrianised High Street to improve their shop fronts and our the local Co-op store has just finished being refurbished .This now offers a far better shopping experience and also incorporates a new post office facility.

With it’s great range of family friendly restaurants and pubs much is done to encourage the atmosphere of belonging to a community. This includes holding a regular farmers market in the high street which attracts many varied stalls offering a fair selection of meats, cheeses and other fine produce. Further dining , shopping and cinema facilities are also available on the many out of town trading centres which are within five minutes driving distance and which specialise in electronic goods.

Family days out may also be planned at The Gibberd Gardens. The glades, pools, lawns and alleys he designed provide settings for some eighty sculptures, large ceramic pots and architectural salvage. There is a gazebo, an avenue of lime trees, a waterfall in the brook and even a chidren's moated castle with drawbridge!

All of the above combine to make Old Harlow an exciting and vibrant town to want to live in.
